Gamer fancies!
Yes, I am posting yet more items that I made for a craft swap! This swap’s theme was the game Dragon Age. We sent our package in early April.
Like the Hunger Games swap, I participated in tandem with my son Will, who came up with the ideas for the swap items we sent, and received the items sent by our swap partner.
This swap was a little unique, in that all participants had to select three characters from the game, and we were to craft “gifts” for our partner, supposedly sent to her by the three characters she had selected.
This was a little weird for me, since I have not ever played the game! But Will provided excellent guidance.
The first character she selected was the Dog! It took us a while to figure out how the Dog could give her a gift, but we eventually decided he could dig up an ancient book … which would contain the lore about the other two items (Will called them “artifacts”!) that we would send.
I hand-stitched the leather, and attached metal embellishments.
It was supposed to look worn and battered, since a dog had suposedly dug it up and carried it in his mouth!
The second character our partner selected was Morrigan.
She bestowed upon our swap partner, a Lyrium ring.
I used an adjustable silver ring, and decorated it with crystal and wire.
Last, there was her “love interest”, Alistair.
He presented her with a fancy necklace and a fancy box.
I painted the wooden box and then decorated it with scrapbook paper and gold paper trim. For the inside, I cut foam in the right shape so the necklace would stay nestled in place, then covered the foam with fabric.
The necklace itself is an amalgemation of other jewelry parts and pieces and other metal embellishments, all super-glued together.
One of the aspects of the swap that Will most enjoyed, was inventing “Codex” entries for our other two pieces.
These crafts are just so amazing! Anyone would be lucky to receive such well and thoughtfully constructed things! And Will clearly has a fertile imagination and writing talent! You two make quite a team. Thanks for making the first swap I’ve organised such a great experience!
